Common questions

How do I invoice a retainer?

One line, quantity 1, the monthly amount, issued on the same date each month with sequential numbering. Put the covered period in the description ('Advisory retainer โ€” September 2026') so each invoice is self-explanatory in an audit.

What payment terms should I set?

Net 14 for small businesses, Net 30 for corporates โ€” and date your follow-up from the due date, not the send date. A polite reminder the day after the due date is normal and expected.
